Approvals and Regulation

Nursing Bridges Nurse Aide Program is Approved and Regulated by Texas career schools and colleges under Title 3, Texas Education Code,   Chapter 132, and Title 40, Texas Administrative Code, Chapter 807 by the TEXAS WORKFORCE COMMISSION.

 

 

Introduction: The nurse aide program is a 10 weeks course and classes begin every three months. Every student is expected to complete the entire course curriculum in order to graduate. A certificate of completion will be issued to student upon graduation. In order to practice in the state of Texas, student must take the final Nurse Aide competency Examination administered by the Department of aging and Disability through Pearson Vue Nurse Aide competency Examination Services (NACES). Upon passing the Examination, student will be listed in the Nurse Aide Registry.

Course Outcome: Students will describe the role and responsibility of a nurse aide in long term and acute care facility.  Student will accurately describe and demonstrate the appropriate skills required to assist clients with activities of daily living and also care for clients with complex medical conditions. Students will demonstrate acceptable communication and interpersonal skills. Student will correctly list types of healthcare facilities, describe common beliefs about aging, list signs of aging, and explain the rights of the elderly. Student will correctly demonstrate proper hand washing techniques, using personal protective equipment (PPE), identify when to implement isolation precautions, demonstrate acceptable communication and interpersonal skills.

  Entrance /Admission Requirement

Enrollment begins three months prior to the beginning of class.   All prospective students must meet all admission requirements for acceptance into any of the programs. All applicants must submit the documents listed below to the admissions office: At 14425 Cornerstone Village Dr. Houston, Texas 77014 USA

1)High school Diploma, GED, and/or Official transcripts.

2)Applicants must be 18 years and above.

3)A written certification from a physician that student is in good health and able to participate in clinical rotations, and provide proof of up to date immunization.

   4) Criminal history background check.

During the course of the program a grade of 75% or higher is expected to be maintained throughout in order to advance in the course of study; and all courses must be completed in sequence of the program curriculum.

Applicants seeking Re-admission /Re-entry into the program must complete a fresh application and undergo the admission process.

  GRADUATION REQUIREMENT

In order to graduate, the student must successfully complete all course work listed in the curriculum within 10 weeks. Must maintain a grade of 75% or above

Salary Range

 Nurse Aide Salaries range between $8.00/hr and $14.00/hr.

Course Description

This Pharmacology course is specially designed for Registered Nurses, Licensed Vocational Nurses and Student nurses wishing to refresh, enhance and/or develop their theoretical and practical knowledge base of pharmarcotherapeutics related to nursing practice through the application of critical thinking skills in clinical situation while utilizing the nursing process. The major focus of this course addresses principles of pharmacology, medication administration techniques, drug calculation, drug classification by prototype, and various therapeutic drug uses according to body systems.

Course Title: Nursing Bridges NCLEX Review

Program Objectives:

Upon Completion of our nursing review program prospective nurses will:

  • Verbalize understanding of the NCLEX test plan as it relates to patient safety, basic care and comfort, health promotion, disease prevention, disease management; and preservation of psychosocial and physiologic integrity.

  • Demonstrate understanding of the universal structure that defines nursing actions and competencies

  • Verbalize deeper understanding of core nursing concepts and theories

  • Develop advance test taking skills  through planned strategy

  • Improve test scores by 80% or above in practices exercises

  • Verbalize readiness and confidence in taking the NCLEX

 

PROGRAM DESCRIPTION

The NCLEX review program is designed to re-evaluate the entire nursing curriculum and focus on core nursing concepts and theories that enable the nurse transfer theoretical knowledge to clinical situations such as will be tested in the NCLEX examination. Contents includes but not limited to implementing basic care , facilitating comfort, promoting patient safety, implementing health promotion measures, preventing complications, mastering disease management models,

Contact Hours: 480Hrs

Course Duration: Six months. Students are expected to spend at least four hundred and eighty additional hours of self- studies on practice exercises, group activities, case studies and research activities accompanying this course.

Enrolment Criteria

Must have enrolled in a local or foreign Nursing Program that is accredited or approved by the jurisdiction for which they seek licensure.

Must have completed a course of study in nursing or be near completion.

Must have received or awaiting permission to test for NCLEX from the State Board of Nursing they seek Licensure.

Must meet the requirement for licensure through equivalent education and experience in California: Ref Code of Regulation section 2516 (B)

Must have a valid government-issued Photo I.D

  • BLS/CPR - American Heart Association

Nursing Bridges Institute training site and Basic life support (BLS) Cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) course is approved by the American Heart Association.

 

Course Title: Basic Life Support Certification

Course Description

This classroom-based course assist healthcare professionals learn to recognize several life-threatening emergencies, provide CPR to victims of all ages, use an AED, and relieve choking in a safe, timely and effective manner.

Course Objectives

 

Upon Completion of this course the healthcare professional will identify:

  • Key changes in basic life support, reflecting the new science from the 2010 American Heart Association Guidelines for Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation and Emergency Cardiovascular Care

  • Critical concepts of high-quality CPR

  • The American Heart Association Chain of Survival

  • 1-Rescuer CPR and AED for adult, child and infant

  • 2-Rescuer CPR and AED for adult, child and infant

  • Differences between adult, child and infant rescue techniques

  • Bag-mask techniques for adult, child and infant

  • Rescue breathing for adult, child and infant

  • Relief of choking for adult, child and infant

  • CPR with an advanced airway*

Course Duration: One day. Students are expected to spend at least four to six hours of independent studies on case studies and research activities accompanying this course prior to taking the class.

Enrolment Criteria

 

Students are expected to enroll at least one week before the class. Books are to be purchased separately. Classes are open to all healthcare professionals, daycare workers, workers in the restaurant industry and any individual interested in learning how to respond in times of medical agency.

Program Completion Requirement

American Heart Association BLS for Healthcare Providers Course Completion Card is valid for two years.

Students must attend class, and complete the didactic component, pass the written examination and hands-on lab practice in order to obtain certification card.

 

In the classroom, students are expected to participate in simulated clinical scenarios and learning stations. Students work with an AHA BLS Instructor to complete BLS skills practice and skills testing. Students must also complete a written exam. Students who are not successful in the skills and written exam will be given one more chance to retake the test. After retaking the test and still unsuccessful, the student will have to reschedule for another class and pay a new fee.

  • ACLS - American Heart Association

Course Title

Advance Cardiac life Support Certification

Course Description

 

ACLS certification class is designed to teach healthcare professionals who either direct or participate in the management of cardiopulmonary arrest and other cardiovascular emergencies skills necessary to recognize and manage critical life threatening medical emergencies. This includes but not limited to emergency response personnel, emergency medicine, intensive care and critical care units.

Course Objectives

 

Upon Completion of this course the healthcare professional will:

Identify Key changes in advanced cardiovascular life support, reflecting the 2010 American Heart Identify AHA guidelines for cardiopulmonary resuscitation and emergency cardiovascular care

Effectively demonstrate basic life support skills, including effective chest compressions, use of a bag-mask device and use of an (AED)

Demonstrate competency in recognition and early management of respiratory and cardiac arrest

Demonstrate competency in recognition and early management of peri-arrest conditions such as symptomatic bradycardia

Demonstrate competency in airway management

Demonstrate competency in related pharmacology

Demonstrate competency in management of acute coronary syndromes (ACS) and stroke

Demonstrate competency in effective communication as a member and leader of a resuscitation team

Demonstrate competency in effective Resuscitation team dynamics

Course Duration: One day for renewals. Two days for initial certification. Students are expected to spend at least 8 to 16 hours of independent studies on case studies and research activities accompanying this course prior to taking the class.

Students are expected to enroll at least one week before the class. Books are to be purchased separately. Classes are open to healthcare professionals who work in critical care areas and need ACLS certification. Classes are also open to healthcare professional who are seeking to increase their knowledge base and skills in response to critical health situations.

Students are expected to purchase the 90-1014 ACLS Provider Manual, includes ACLS Pocket Reference Card Set and 90-1012 ACLS Pocket Reference Card Set (set of 2)

 

Program Completion Requirement

American Heart Association ACLS Providers Course Completion Card is valid for two years.

 

Students must attend class, and complete the didactic component, pass the written examination and hands-on lab practice in order to obtain certification card. A letter of completion will be written pending arrival of cards.

  • Basic EKG Interpretation Course

Course Title: Basic EKG Interpretation Course

 

Course Description:

Our EKG short course reviews the anatomy and physiology of normal and abnormal cardiac conduction with emphasis on the features of EKG tracings. The course extensively covers the method for analyzing EKGs to include assessment of rhythm, calculating heart rate, observing P-wave, QRS waves, T-wave  measurement of EKG intervals and segments and the evaluation of other relevant wave forms to include pathophysiology of cardiac conduction abnormalities.

 

Course Outcomes

Upon completion of the EKG course participants will be able to:

Identify components of the ECG waveform.

Recognize common ECG dysrhythmias.

Identify normal and abnormal cardiac conduction pathways

Identity and interprets multiple EKG strips to recognize normal and abnormal rhythm’s

Employ a systematic process to evaluate and analyze ECG rhythm strips.

Understand the common causes, consequences and patient management strategies for ECG dysrhythmias.
